Team Lead Procurement & Inventory

Job description

  • Team Lead: professional management of a team of Procurement & Inventory Managers, onboarding of new team members, ensuring team development through training and coaching, close liaison with peers within the P&I department but also with other relevant company interfaces. You will also be responsible for the development of processes and structures within the P&I team
  • Leading projects to optimize processes within the department, as well as involving other departments
  • Procurement: Ordering all articles allocated to your portfolio: placing orders with suppliers (truck and container deliveries), monitoring order status, solving inbound issues, overseeing the PO lifecycle from placing the order to receiving the goods, reviewing order planning to achieve optimal results with regards to logistic discounts
  • Inventory management: Being responsible for the availability and health of your articles and controlling stock levels (i.e. avoid overstock and out-of-stock situations), observing utilization rates within the FCs
  • Supplier logistics performance evaluation: Monitoring, analyzing and improving replenishment relevant KPIs in cooperation with purchasing (delivery punctuality/accuracy/quality, lead times, etc.)
  • Negotiation: Taking part in meetings with suppliers and negotiating logistics conditions
  • Relocation management: Monitoring demand for inter-FC relocation of stock, managing needed relocations
  • Leading projects to optimize processes inside the department as well as involving other departments.


  • University degree or similar professional training
  • High interest in logistics and supply chain
  • Excellent analytical skills, the ability to present results in a targeted and comprehensible way, and an understanding of logistics and demand-relevant topics
  • Good communication and organizational skills, tenacity, the ability to take care of many different tasks in a short time span and a hands-on-mentality
  • An autonomous and proactive working ethic
  • Fluent English (spoken and written) and knowledge of German as an advantage
  • Ideally 5+ years relevant working experience with personnel responsibilities in procurement, inventory management, demand planning, purchasing or logistics, in retail or e-commerce.
