Business Process Owner (Purchasing)

Job description

As a Business Process Owner, you are part of the central Purchase Steering Team that is responsible for Purchasing Controlling, contract management, and project management within the Purchasing area. In this important role, you will contribute to the success of zooplus by being the interface between the operational business and Group IT and translate process requirements from purchasing into scalable IT solutions. You are the interface between operational business and Group IT for the purchasing processes and tools and translate process requirements from purchasing into IT solutions.

What you can expect:

  • Analyze all relevant processes and business requirements within our tooling landscape (3rd party and in-house development)
  • Perform gap analysis, identify knowledge and business gaps, scope changes, and review alternatives
  • Develop a vision for optimal end-to-end processes and strategy for their implementation
  • Define process optimization roadmap in collaboration with product organization, business, and IT
  • Transfer and integrate processes into the newly introduced ERP environment while ensuring compliance
  • Drive standardization and harmonization of purchasing processes (Elimination, Standardization, Simplification, Automation)
  • Define, document, and design processes and ensure compliance with global processes and policies
  • Conduct key user and local training including documentation with Knowledge Leaders
  • Aim for the best solution for zooplus while communicating and aligning proactively with all relevant stakeholders (Purchasing, IT, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Legal, etc.)
  • Define process goals and control goal accomplishment
  • Collaborate with local business teams and support them in global SAP initiatives, such as upgrades or other technology changes
  • Identify and implement change management measures


  • Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field, Master’s preferable
  • Profound experience in process analytics, process design, and implementation across a global organization using common BPM practices
  • Strong result- and solution-driven mindset
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • Senior stakeholder management skills and experience in engaging business customers within an international environment
  • Project Management experience and proven success record in global process roll-out
  • Solid experience of systems and processes (e.g. SAP, DocuSign, etc.)
  • Ability to stay ‘close to the ground’ (globally) to understand the ‘real’ end-user experience and perspective
  • Skills to organize and coordinate diverse groups in complex situations
  • Attitude and perseverance required to work in a challenging, international environment
  • Fluent in English, German is a plus, however, we do not require
